Ubisoft has finally gone on record today to announce a ton of information about the next iteration in their insanely popular Far Cry Franchise: Far Cry 4. In addition, as a nice little bonus, they even announced the official release date: November 18th, 2014.

In a press release by Ubisoft this morning they announced the game, the release date, and a whole slew of information about its Himalayan setting. The game will take place in the fictional Himalayan area of Kyrat, where a despotic self-appointed i king has taken hold.

Also, In their quarterly report, Ubisoft stated that five games will be leading leading their sales push for the next year: The previously announced Assassin’s Creed Unity, the latest iteration of the Just Dance franchise, last year’s E3 racing standout The Crew, This Month’s inevitable hit Watch Dogs, and the previously unannounced Far Cry 4.

In the release, game director Dan Hay says “Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations” ii

They also announced a “Limited Edition” copy of the game that will come as a pre-order bonus. iii The edition will include three single player missions entitled “Hurk’s Redemption” featuring the character Hurk from Far Cry 3’s DLC.

Undoubtedly we’ll be seeing a lot more information about this game in the coming months, especially with E3 right around the corner.  It looks like we’ve got something to look forward to when Ubisoft’s Press Conference comes around on June 9th at 2:30 PM. iv
